ISCHIA ISLAND AND LACCO AMENO
Ischia is a volcanic island in the Tyrrhenian Sea. It lies at the northern end of the Gulf of Naples. It is the largest of the Phlegrean Islands.
It is famous for its thermal SPA, where people can enjoy the results of the island’s natural volcanic activity, its hot springs, and its volcanic mud.
It is almost entirely mountainous; the highest peak is Mount Epomeo. Ischia is the name of the main town of the island. Other towns of the island are Barano d’Ischia, Casamicciola Terme, Forio, Serrara Fontana and Lacco Ameno.
Lacco Ameno, where the XVII SINS National Congress will take place, is located at the north-west of the island; it is characterized by a particular green sea rock in front of the port, called “Fungo” (the Mushroom) because of its shape.
